In 2017, the worst year ever regarding forest fires in Portugal 114 people died and 540630 hectares of forest burned. This area corresponds to 45% of the total burned area in Europe, Meddle East and North Africa that year. In early 2019 I visited some of the places affected by the fires and was shocked when finding that 2 years after, the landscape didn't even start to recover from the wounds, this is my report from Vale do Rossim, Serra da Estrela, Portugal.
All Photographs were shot with a Fujifilm X-PRO2 digital camera and minimal to none post processing was done. Also featuring the illustration "Preto no verde" by the guest artist Sahara on the ZINE back poster!
